SKY HAS A CHITTERY BITE AFTER HER DIP IN THE RIVER

Sky is the first horse we bought. Bred by Barbara Travers in Wales she arrived as a yearling and immediately set about training us in how to satisfy her needs. Her lovely forgiving temperament has allowed us to learn on the job and she has been successfully started under saddle at home. Sky produced her first foal BRACKENBRAE BIRLINN in 2010. Sky produced another pure bred colt foal by Southbrook Warlord in July 2014, Brackenbrae Somerled.

Sky produced her fourth colt foal on the 14th March 2017. He is called Brackenbrae Ragnald, Rags for short. His showing career so far has been impressive with many firsts to go with many admirers. He is already spoken for but will stay with us for early summer 2018 to continue his education and do a few more shows. An intelligent laid back young man who loves people, he takes all in his stride as befits a son of Sky and Warlord.

His first year of showing "down south" has been affected by Covid-19 cancellations but he has had a very successful virtual season starting with Second to the Queen's horse at the Royal Windsor, and going on to win Championships at The Great Welsh Show, Mirfield Show, Rainbow Show and the Cleveland Bay Show online.

TWINOAKS SKYSAIL WITH BRACKENBRAE SOMERLED

Somerled has inherited his mother's intelligence and is already quite a character but Sky is coping in her usual laid back manner.

As a yearling in 2015 Somerled was 3rd in his class at the Great Yorkshire Show, won best Scottish Bred Horse in the Hunter Championship at the Royal Highland Show, and won rosettes at several shows around Perthshire.

In May 2016 Somerled went to his new home with Barbara Martindale at Stainmore as a stallion.

Skysail's third son Stormcloud was born, as suggested by his name, during a torrential storm in July 2015. He turned into a handsome young colt and picked up many prizes in his showing career before going south for a career as a stallion, now standing at Braithwaite Stud in Yorkshire.
